Taxilandia: San Diego
Taxilandia: San Diego was an intimate multimedia experience - a car ride that immersed passengers in the sounds, sights, and dynamic history of local neighborhoods in Sal's dear South Bay, San Diego.

Weaving a dramatic tapestry connecting generations, social classes, races, and cultures, experience National City, Chula Vista, and San Ysidro from Sal's backseat as he wrestles with the layers and questions that come when a neighborhood changes, confronting social stigmas and the realities of gentrification. Watch him testify to what is here now, how it came to be, and what can be here tomorrow.
5 Gallery Installations
The virtual salons result in one or more creative collaborations. We work with our local artist partners to create a distributed storefront gallery (in partnership with local businesses).
3 Virtual Salon Conversations
With Guest Artists
We design and co-host a series of virtual salons, each with local artists whose work intersects with gentrification. Streamed live, these salons include a Taxilandia documentary on Bushwick, and an interactive portion where the artists and audience are invited to get out and capture five traces of gentrification with their cameras.
5 More Gallery Videos
An extension was created in which five new local poets for the same storefront.
“The Art of Words” is a coloring book distributed throughout our community we created with artists all over San Diego to have them show us their unique vision of the city we all know and love.
